What is the process for Street, Storm Drain, or Sewer improvement plan checks?

First, contact the Engineering Department to inform staff that you intend to hand deliver a new submittal and schedule an appointment. Fees will be calculated based on the Engineering Department Fee Schedule (download). Payment is required in-person at the time of submission. Only cash, checks, and VISA or MasterCard are accepted.

  • Fill out a plan check submittal form (download)
  • Provide two hard copies of plans (Title Block)
  • Email a digital copy of plans to a designated Engineering staff member
  • Obtain a WQMP Approval Letter, if applicable

Please note that your initial payment assumes that only three plan checks will be necessary. Additional fees may be required if more than three checks are needed, or if there are any additional pages added to the plans. The delivery person will sign a log to acknowledge the drop-off. Turn around typically takes 4-8 weeks, however this heavily depends on the availability of staff, holidays, submitter response time, and unforeseen complications (i.e. power outage, server crash, etc). Since the City does not have an online portal, communications, corrections, and updates will be primarily via email. Please verify with staff that each submission was received as some files may end up being too large to transmit and cause delays.

When there are no further edits required and the plans have been approved by Engineering, a Mylar copy will be requested from the submitter and hand delivered to City Hall to collect the City Engineers signature. The primary contact will receive a digital copy of the original signed Mylar plans, then deliver three bonded copies to the City.
