City-owned trees are usually located in the public right-of-way nearest to curbs and sidewalks, however, not all trees located in the right-of-way may be city-owned. If you’re planning to do major landscaping in front of your property, consult with the Department of Public Works Operations Division determine which trees you’re permitted to alter or cut down. Removal and destruction of city property is illegal. City trees are logged and maintained regularly including those planted in local city-parks and trails.
