The City of Montclair Invites You to Become Active in Your Community! There are two (2) vacancies on the Planning Commission
Commission’s Purpose
Serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council on land use policy matters that guide short– and long–term physical and environmental development of the City. The Planning Commission has final approval authority on certain land use and design entitlements and recommends action to the City Council on others.
Typical responsibilities include review of plans, reports, and public input as they relate to requests for Conditional Use Permits, Variances, Precise Plans of Design, subdivision maps, Specific Plans, and amendments to the General Plan and Zoning Code.
Ability to participate in public meetings, conduct oneself in a professional manner, and make determinations and statutory findings as to whether projects are consistent with the General Plan, Municipal Code, and Specific Plans (if applicable). Professionally represent the City at meetings and conferences related to the duties of the Planning Commission.
Qualifications
Applicants must be residents of the City of Montclair.

Second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m.
Length of Term
Four (4) years – Term begins July 1, 2025, and expires June 30, 2029
Stipend
$125 per meeting attended
Application Period & Procedure
Applications are being accepted in the City Clerk’s Office from Monday, April 14, 2025, until Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Online applications can be completed and submitted online at https://www.cityofmontclair.org/commission-application/ and paper applications are available in the City Hall lobby located at 5111 Benito Street, Montclair, and can be submitted at City Hall in–person or mailed to City of Montclair, Attn: City Clerk’s Office, 5111 Benito Street, Montclair, CA 91763. Applications must be received by the City Clerk by the deadline.
Applicants will be contacted directly to schedule interviews with the PC Interview Panel, which will make appointment recommendations to the Mayor and City Council; appointments will be made at a regular meeting of the City Council.
