Central Avenue – Phase II & Traffic Signal Interconnect
A six-foot Class II bike lane will connect the proposed Class IV bike lane on Moreno Street and the Pacific Electric Trail at the northern edge of Montclair. South of Moreno Street, Central Avenue experiences high volumes of traffic; however, north of Moreno Street, Central Avenue is less heavily trafficked and can accommodate bicyclists.
The first phase involved completion of traffic signal upgrades, signal interconnect and fiber optic along Central Avenue including new landscape medians and pavement. Traffic signals were designed to ensure traffic flows smoothly and provides safe crossing for pedestrians and vehicles at intersections.
A new fiber optic trunk line will be spliced to the existing fiber optic trunk line from Costco Drive to Richton Street.
