Calls for Service
The City of Montclair maintains its’ own fire protection services operating out of two fire stations. Station One is located at 8901 Monte Vista Ave, and houses a fire command vehicle, one medic aerial platform truck, an Office of Emergency Services Type-1 engine, and one Type-1 fire engine as a reserve. Station Two which is located at 10825 Monte Vista Ave, houses a medic Type-1 engine along with a reserve medic Type-1 engine.
The Montclair Fire Department responds to a wide variety of service calls. These calls include fires, ruptures/explosions, emergency medical incidents, rescues, hazardous conditions, public service assistance calls, good intent calls, false calls, severe weather incidents, and natural disasters. To best be prepared for any type of emergency both stations are equipped with various types of rescue equipment ranging from vehicle extrication tools to swift water rescue equipment.
Total department staffing includes 21 full time fire suppression employees which consists of three battalion chiefs, six fire captains, five fire engineers, and seven firefighter/paramedics who work three alternating 48-hour shifts. The Deputy Fire Chief along with the administrative technician and office specialist work a normal work week supporting the Montclair Fire Department.
